WE INVITE YOU TO BE APART OF SOUTH BOSTON'S "M STREET"
MODIFIED SOFTBALL 2006 LEAGUE

This league started in 1970 and has become the number one modified softball league in Boston. If you love softball and I do know those of you that loves modified softball will really miss not having it here in fishtown any longer I know that this league or no other league will ever replace the fanatic 50 seasons we were treated to here in fishtown. But this is a great league that you may enjoy watching. You can get the scores and standings every day and stats all year around.
The season starts in late May and ends sometime in September.

HERE'S TO 50 WONDERFUL YEARS OF A.S.A.
1956 ~ SOFTBALL ~ 2005 ~

A SAD FARWELL TO FISHTOWN SOFTBALL... BUT THERE ARE STILL THE MEMORIES THAT WILL LIVE ON FOREVER.

It was about 9:00pm on Monday April 10, 2006 when Bob Mc Cormick called Jack Moore with the news "that it was all over" The Rotan league that is. There was one last hope that the Pollick league in the Northeast may have a team or two interested in coming to Fishtown to play. There was a premise made to Bob a week ago that the league would get back to Bob on Monday night but the call never came.

So after 50 years our league officially comes to an end. But we have and always will be so grateful. Just to have been a part of this league and its great history.

To all of those players and coaches that enjoyed so many nights of softball and its memories of playing in a truly great league. Yes for sure the last few years were not as good as years gone by. But there were players that came every night just for one reason “Because they loved modified softball” and did not want to see the league die.

To the men that ran this league for the 50 years thank you. No one knows just what it takes to run a softball league. It starts with unbelievable love and deduction because you want to make it better. The work on the field every night and the entire responsibilities well they just come with the job some nights you don’t even go right home from work. You go right to the field and start to work all over again with brooms, rakes and shovels and it don’t matter if you are dead tired or even sick. No because if you don’t do it no one will. But once the season comes to an end you just set back with the pride of what you have done knowing that you were part of another wonderful year. Again Thank You All So Much.

For the enthusiasm of the Fishtown people that loved this league and showed up every night in the early years to watch softball at its best. They would come home from work eat as fast as they could and head for another night of softball at Hetzells.

We have to remember the sponsors for without them the league maybe would have ended many years ago? But just to have a team in this league meant so much to these people.

Yes we will always remember the good things and the good times that each one of us will hold in our own hearts about a league that lasted for 50 years. Good by and thank you Fishtown for giving us all the best softball in Philadelphia……………………
